Collaboration Day Summaries

TK

TK spent the morning: preparing the order for PTA Enrichment, communicating notes to the K teachers regarding the incoming TK students, and coordinating a visit to the PreK department at PCY. The afternoon was spent participating in the Fountas and Pinnell training.

K

Kindergarten worked on class placements for incoming Kindergarteners and the new first grade. They also reviewed student writing samples and entered these scores into Illuminate. In the afternoon, the teachers attended the Fountas and Pinnell training.

1st

1st grade attended the Fountas and Pinnell training.

2nd

Second grade met with Emily to work on class placements for next year. Then they attended the Fountas and Pinnell training.

3rd

3rd grade met to work on class placement. They also created a key/bubble sheet in Illuminate for their end of year math assessment, discussed STEM projects and using Knex,  and planned their end of year parties.

4th

4th grade discussed several items.  First, they determined what might work in terms of common assessment deadlines for next year.  They also spent time conferring on their DWA scores and discussing their end-of-year Math assessment.  Finally, they talked about some initial plans for next year in terms of Core Lit. and Science.

5th

Fifth grade discussed progress and needs of current students with Mrs. Stassel.  The teachers looked at the Wordly Wise program for vocabulary development as well as the Being a Writer spelling and language programs.

6th

The 6th grade team (Chris Edsey, Lisa Fungo, Andrea Redecker, and Melissa Rogan) met on 5/20/16 to finalize the agenda for the 6th grade completion ceremony along with going over the schedule of activities for the last week of school.


Lisa Fungo and Andrea Redecker met with David Paszkiewicz to discuss what to expect at the beginning of next year as the 6th grade moves to BYOC. He also shared resources with us to review over the summer and answered questions about Google Drive.

ELD

The elementary English Language Development teachers discussed and planned for the integration of a second ELD paraprofessional.

Library

The library specialists shared picture book biographies and planned for next year, including sharing favorite read-alouds for the first month of Kindergarten.

Computer Lab

The computer specialists met and discussed the end of the year activities, focusing on the Sphero lessons that PCR had done with students. They also viewed the videos that they are sending to teachers for archiving Google Classroom.  They discussed ways to incorporate Robotics in next year’s activities, things they want to continue doing, and things that need to be revisited next year and changed.
